Collage group started summer of 2021 between a few friends at Marika Thunder’s studio.

A collage is an assemblage of different images brought together to create a unique visual story. The selected pieces used in a collage typically share some sort of relationship with one another, by complementing and contrasting, unifying and separating. This dynamic mirrors that of a friend group, which is a microcosm of the societies that make up the world. Collage group symbolizes the collaborative nature of a collage, as certain completed pieces are then revisited by another artist and added to. Being an artist is typically a highly individual and isolating practice, so by bringing these artists together to engage in creative practice allows for a new outlook/perspective to arise by joined ideas and efforts. To bring an additional interactive component to this show; a panel as well as a table full of the scraps/clippings gathered and saved throughout collage group is left open for those who come into the gallery and feel compelled to add the collage group story.
